Your welcome, I also asked how many in total were going to be in the series for the 20-4-20's, If I remember correctly, the x-mas coin is the last, memories foggy so don't quote me on that. And sorry I never thought of bundling them with the 1812 quarters, that's what I used to do before I became a MC member, but if there's supposed to be no free shipping this year...it makes sense. And I wish I remembered that mint salesman's name, seems he was being honest with me instead of the typical run-a-round answers you get when you call the mint, but I have a new guy who called me directly last week when I sent a super-y letter asking for a straight forward answer on another question, I'll give him a shout and see what he says about how many 20-4-20's there will be in this series. Over & out

It's a shame if the Xmas 20 for 20 is the last one. It's not that memorable and the series is popular enough that the RCM could continue it indefinitely. The only reason I could see them discontinuing it is if they want to have all of their 20 for 20 buyers jump to the 100 for 100 coins. Then, in the months following that transition, they'll introduce a 500 for 500 coin and allow the 100 for 100 to continue for a year or two.

If they do that (and it is all speculation), they're going to price themselves right out of a huge customer base.

I could see the $20 series continue at 2/year. I think the problem is that many people buy these, and nothing else, which is anathemic to the mints goals.
Rest in Peace

I hope they turn it into something like commemorative silver dollar, one or two releases per year. And the Mint need to make their plan clear so that people can adjust how much they want to buy/collect.

Just ordered 3, but they aren't shipping until the 17th of July. Love this series of $20 for $20.

Since the very first 20 for 20, I've always ordered them from the Mint. This time, I'll just go to the Vancouver boutique store. Different packaging (plastic-wrapped more suited to gift-giving) and you can essentially get as many as you want.

The whale/iceberg design would be more appropriate on a 1 kilo coin or a 10 oz'er.

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

I receive an email from my second favourite Crown Corporation dated July 15th, informing me that the much vaunted $20 for $20 Iceberg coin is now "currently backordered".

I'm presuming this is because of the hot weather Ottawa is presently experiencing...

P.S. For folks who take my posts literally and perhaps lack a sense of humour.. icebergs and heat don't go well together.

Working in Ottawa and heat don't go together either. Nothing gets done in this government town between Canada Day and Labour Day.
