Fisher F2 in my own backyard,

first "relic" came as soon as I turned the detector on (part of an old brass hose nozzle)

then a couple of nails, a stainless screw, and my first ever coin (1981 penny),

second "relic" just before dinner, 25 feet away from the first, another part of a hose nozzle

First-Half-Hour-With-My-First-Detector

and guess what ?
it's a perfect match to the first piece! 25 feet apart - I'm hooked!

I used to love metal detecting when I was a kid.... I don't know where you're located.... but I always found my best items near water..

Another good tip is around old farmsteads or locations that were popular areas 50 - 100 years ago... I always thought it was cool to find old nails, once found a pully and I would occasionally find the odd coin or two... good luck with the new hobbie and have fun!!

I would put that brass hose nozzle back into use - it will give you better service than any modern junk!
