@Chris I think its a GREAT idea, but do we have time?
If we need one, the only alternative I can think of though is if we all write a note, email it, have it printed, and then have Chris include it in the card. I know some (all?) of us would rather hand sign the card, but do not know if it would work. I know I could scan my signature into the note I write.
thoughts?

There is just over a month until her birthday, and depending on where every "uncle" is located, that may be cutting in close on time.
<-------I am fine with someone just listing my screen name on card, nothing else.

Wow, you guys... I don't even know what to say to this generosity. I've received $40 in gifts from several of you to go toward the 2007 silver proof set. This was unexpected and completely unnecessary, but your caring hearts and desire to encourage young numismatists is shining through in spades! I'm going to check out prices at the LCS, and if they don't have any in stock I found some buy-it-now's on ebay. Ella's eyes are going to bug out when she opens the present and sees all the shiny! She'll further appreciate the silver content whenever I can help her grasp precious vs. non-precious metals someday. She also will likely not comprehend the full coolness factor of the 1825 Large Cent she's getting via my trade-up thread, but someday she will! I was talking with my wife about the awesome people on this forum last night, and she said "wow, you sure found some really nice people there." I couldn't put it any better than that.

You guys can simply use my CCF ID handle on the card, no need to mail the card to me. I'll think of some nice comment to make and e-mail it.

Dear Ella, You are perhaps too young right now to understand all of this, but many 'aunts' and 'uncles' have taken the time to wish you a Happy Birthday. We do so because we are friends of your dad, and because we encourage moms and dads to spend time with their kids. Since your dad likes coins, we want to encourage you to like coins as well. Coins are bright and shiny and pretty, but they are also a magic window into the past. By looking at them you may pass through the window. Your dad will guide you. So Happy Birthday!

@Moe, Thanks, but I think we have enough for her Dad to get her the silver proof set,. But originally this thread was started just to ask for 3 other people to chip on so we could get her the 2007 proof set. Enough people wanted to help and ijdfindring then suggested we could go for the silver proof set. And again CCF people were more than anxious. So all I can say is that this thread simply started as a challenge for 3 people and has grown by itself. If more people want it to grow further, then it can grow - and in any direction it wants to. I don't know - if more people come on board, maybe we could get her a 2007 ASE also? And then Chris stood up and volunteered to do the card Also, the only part I had in this is starting the challenge on Cheezy's other thread and then moved the challenge here. I am sure Cheezy will gladly post pics for us of the coins and of Ella with the coins. I live a loooong way from them and have never met them F2F, so I cannot provide pics or anything. Our CCF family is amazing

All, I was perusing proof sets at my LCS and had an idea... Since all of you are contributing to the gift here I wanted to get your thoughts: I could get a 2007 non-silver proof set as was the original goal (~$15), and I could put the extra money toward a 2007 ASE (~$35). If anyone else wanted to join in on the gift to her, you'd be more than welcome, or I could just pay the difference. Since the proof sets tend to sit around in their boxes, I was thinking she'd learn to appreciate the precious metal value more by having a nice, dedicated little hunk of pure silver on the side. Thoughts?

Since you say the " Ooh Shiny," factor is important to her, I think this is a great idea

@cheezyfryes, When my oldest granddaughter was in kindergarten a few years ago, my daughter requested a list of all her classmates from her teacher, saying she needed only the first names of the children as Elana's grandpa wants to make her last show-and-tell for the school year a special one. After receiving the names, I placed a off center LMC in 2x2 holders with the students name on each holder. When my granddaughter gave her show & tell, her teacher gave each student their own personalized off center cent. It was a huge success. I would be more than happy to send you a personalized off center cent in a 2x2 with the name of your choice. Message me with the name and the address to send it to and I can mail it the same or next day. On the envelope's upper left side where it was sent from, it will read "Broken-Coin" & "my 9 digit zip code" only. BTW ~ My 3rd granddaughter and I share the same birthday and she turned 6 (and I 60) 3 days ago on July 20th.

Broken-Coin, PM sent!
If anyone else is interested in contributing toward the birthday gift set, please reply here. It sounds like Chris12018 is compiling comments for a card (I'll PM you my mailing address soon, sir).
Love this place! Ella is going to love this gift. I'll post pics as soon as I purchase, as well as pics of the big day!
