1970 D Rosevelt Dime RDV-002 - Coin Community Forum

guyod12 New Member United States 17 Posts	Posted 08/03/2013 7:51 pm Hello all, so I just got CherryPickers Guide and was checking out dimes that I have. It seemed to indicate that this flame style on the back was rare for 1970 D. It has 2 valleys in it and one is pretty deep. It also said it was a new listing so it seemed to be lacking details. Could any one elaborate/ tell me what I'm seeing wrong? Thanks, Guy Report this Post to the Staff

Dave42 Pillar of the Community United States 571 Posts	Posted 08/03/2013 11:55 pm Your's looks like the RDV-2. For some reason, I find way more of the 1970-D RDV-2's than the RDV-1's. I don't know if they really are that rare or not. I think I have 4 or 5 of them. Maybe someone else can fill me in.... Dave Report this Post to the Staff
SecretGlitch Valued Member United States 237 Posts	Posted 08/04/2013 01:04 am As far as I can tell the 1970 reverse varieties aren't rare at all. I tossed them into circulation when I found several in a box. Maybe an uncirculated example may be harder to find? Report this Post to the Staff
DavidFNYC Valued Member United States 95 Posts	Posted 08/04/2013 11:14 am I went to my CherryPickers' Guide and didn't find this one listed, there must be a new edition out. That said I often buy batches of 1970 Mint Sets because if I pay about $15 a set I can always sell the half dollar and recoup all my money, and these tend to be very Variety rich sets. There's always a chance of a Small Date 1970s Penney or a 1970 s/s RPM, There are also at least three known varieties 1970D double-die dimes according to the Cherry Pickers and I have one variety they don't list. I find searching Mint sets to be both fun and profitable, it's a great way to get uncirculated varieties cheap! Report this Post to the Staff
