This advertising counterstamp directs the holder of the coin to "USE G.G.G. & G.G.G.G." I believe it was David Bowers who discovered the formerly unknown issuer of these scarce counterstamps. Charles H. Goodwin was an apothecary in Exeter, New Hampshire, located at 49 Water Street. Goodwin's Grand Goose Grease was a patented hair tonic, and Goodwin's Grand Goose Juice was a breath perfume. Now I ask you ... What young lady could resist a dapper gent who doused himself with these products? Talk about getting goosed!
