If you do weigh it, just weigh the coin, not the rim, I'm sure you knew this, but just making sure. Good luck!

How cool would it be if it turns out to be legitimate?
What do you think it would auction for?

Have we ever had any real success stories on CCF before (for people finding ultra-rarities), or have they all been shot down by NGC and the like?

I saw this the other day when someone mentioned it. The set sold for over $100,000.

Don't forget about the guy who found the silver Kennedy. It was one that they didn't make silver. Can't remember the year...

I am hopefully having it looked at today by a coin broker. My friend got me in contact with him, and he asked me to send him pictures last night. I did have the coin weighed yesterday and it weighed 2.695 grams. (Is that a good sign?) I am trying not to get my hopes up, but my fingers are crossed and I will most definitly let you all know what I find out.

Everyone on here has been so helpful and I can not express to you how grateful I am. I am so glad that I found this site!

Sorry for the loss of your grandmother. She must have been very close for you to wait 6 years to open the bag. Right up front that shows what kind of selfless person you are.

Sure hope it turns out to be a real 44 steelie, pulling hard for you. That would be so great to find such a treasure in such an unlikely place. Definitely let us know what you find out.

If I was you, I would not let the coin guy buy it from you. Just let him see what he thinks about it. Let us know what he says.

I wouldn't sell the coin until I had a top grader grade the coin first.

A 2.7 gram weight is a very good sign.
