Nice 81 s, I'm looking for one of these (as they tend to have great strikes) for my date album.

MS-63. As mentioned this date/mint is known for such great strikes there held to a stricter standard because soooo many are available in super good quality, often DMPL

I'll agree with MS63 with possibility of MS64 if what is seen is mostly lustre grazes.

MS63 to me as well, there are so many great 1881-S dollars in slabs most of the TPGs are pretty tough on them. In almost any other date (except 1879-S, 1880-S) I'd see an MS64 on it. The scrapes on the nose bridge and the neck I think put it squarely in MS63 land.

Nice call guys! MS63 it is. I'm seeing MS64, too....but as mentioned, so many beautiful examples from the SF mint during that era.

I'm gonna take a few more pics and start another thread!

That is a very nice MS63. It is certainly a Choice MInt State piece and we can't say that about all MS63 certified coins!

Was gonna say 3 as well...'81-S comes real nice. Still a hoard coin, which is always a cool reason to buy a coin! I don't own any hoard coins besides GSA's.
