I think the gold Superman coin has great secondary market appreciation potential. Probably the best out of the series (although I think the hologram will perform well too).
Great image, most limited item and the first gold coin to ever have Superman on it.

I didn't personally buy it because it's a lot of money to tie up in one coin. I don't resell my coins, I collect and I think would have a hard time selling anything from my collection. Having that money tied up in one item is too much investment for my liking.

If I was a reseller, I would have been all over the gold coin.........they should do well as the word spreads of these coins.

My thoughts on it being 14kt? Superman fans that aren't coin collectors won't care. To them, it's a gold coin with Superman on it. I think RCM made a great decision on making it 14kt. That makes it a good sized coin that is affordable and more easily collectable than if it had a higher gold content.

Well folks, I have a confession to make...

When the Superman coins were first announced to MC members with no images, just those silly question marks, I was was quite negative about them (now that's an understatement).

After seeing six of them from images "Illegally" leaked by sellers on ebay, my wife (who is as much as a coin collector as I am) and I decided they looked pretty good. We both grew up with Superman and he and all the characters in the comic book remain part of us. So, we ordered the "Hologram" and the "Shield" coins.

Five days later we decided to order the "Modern Day" and the "Vintage Superman" coins since they were all starting to grow on us.

On Tuesday, I noticed that the gold Superman was "awaiting stock" at the mint but was available from Canadian Coin & Currency at the issue price. This series was proving to be more popular than I expected. After a brief consultation we ordered one. (Much to my surprise I was only charged the 5% GST since we don't live in Ontariario).

Now having already purchased five out of the seven coins in the set, we rationalized, why not...? So we ordered the "Man of Steel" from the mint.

Needless to say we're very excited about these coins!

Having done a complete turn about. I'm now considering a career in politics...

P.S. We decided to wait on the "Lenticular" as it's a tad too pricey...

Congrats on your purchase Moose!

Nice to see that you can exhibit some self control and not have to buy "everything".....

Seriously though, this set will look great. Especially with the step up in packaging.

Well done.

Thanks very much, SoulBrother!

I'm very sorry to disappoint you though...

We caved in and ordered a "Lenticular". A friendly fellow on RFD (his name ... don't ask ) posted that the "Lenticulars" are 76% sold. He also pointed out that these coins are supposed to be "unlimited" mintage, so how could this be?

It's a good question.

Anyway, thanks again for your congratulations and it will be neat to have the complete set after all.

Congrats to you, Notherncoins!

I know the feeling...

However, I'm sure we won't regret our decision to spring for these coins.
