Just imagine finding that at a yard sale! If you were to sell it for 1750000$, you could technically have the money to buy ever gold Superman coin coming out soon.

Just recently, week ago or something like this, I together with my son saw exactly this scene, some person found this book in the yard sale. But probably the guy wasn't aware about the current price of this book, and pushed it back to the cardboard box.
We watched it, but were unable to do something. It was.........Homer Simpson in one of the episodes of this endless cartoon.

So basically, it is possible to read it without buying, correct?
With all respect to the fans community - it has the price but zero value. Nice to have, but not to pay for it (just IMO).

Wish, some hardcore fan, could explain in short, what for (and not why) he would like to own this item.
Really curious.

Basically, this is the true story, but kind of joke.
Just it happened, that we watched this cartoon couple of days before "new Superman coins news".

@silveroid

this action # 1 1988 reprint looks like a pretty good deal...to go along with the new 2014 superman $10 silver

costs almost about as much as well

we collect because we are called to do it

There have been several reprints of Action No 1 over the years. 1988, 2000, and probably a few others. I would never pay $50 for one. That seems like a really bad deal.

@CASSIDDY77:

Thank you.
I do not know the prices on these collectibles, but found re-print very nice. The idea reminds me NCLT that repeats the pattern of some famous older coin (2001 / 2011 Silver Dollar as example).
You correct, the coin and reprint will be good together.
Need not to forger RCM/CP brochures (if will be, like in 2013) for these coins.

If there was endless fakes of superman #1 on ebay , not reprints which were done by DC, would this top graded # 1 generating a 1,750000 bid?

Ya it still would , anyone willing to pay 2 million or more for a Action Comics #1 (June 1938) Superman's Debut, CGC 9.0 - Perfect White Pages , which there are only 2 of CGC 9.0 grade isn't going to worry to much about some non graded fakes. Plus there is much more too this comic then just firing it up on ebay , there is a documented history , rich collectors are willing to pay millions for super rare items. I think also there are only like 34 total of this issue "unrestored" in existence I believe.

But to me its just a comic book, but then again I am not a rich collector lol.

That said I am going to have a hard time "not" to buy these superman coins since I have all of the others....sometimes I hate collecting...stuff...

action #1 reprints are the only way your going to get a copy these days..... the bottom grade in good conditon is listed for 110K....the 1976 reprint can be had for a few hundred bucks..the 1988 is the most affordable recent reprint and the item I posted is listed in NM near mint condition which is actually a reasonable deal

this feels like the calm before the storm....in 2 days the Post offices and dealers will be placing their orders and the presales will start in earnest...on the first release I bought into a presale and tied up my money in 2 gold Superman coins of which I only received 1.....Im thinking of doing another presale buy for 3 @ 950USD but I have to admit tying up my money before the coins are in Sellers hand feels risky..he cant possibly have a confirmed order.....im also not convinced I will get even one through the RCM this time..even as an MC member

They believe only 50-100 original copies of Action No 1 still exist today. They make so many reprints so that people who can't afford the original can read the first Superman story. I have been a comic book collector for my entire life. The biggest chunk of my collection are my Superman books. In the world of comic book collecting, reprints (like those done in these cases many years later) are nearly worthless. Yes, they contain the original story, but they are not the original book. And in the case of Action No 1 it would not matter HOW many reprints there are or aren't. The number of reprints only make the original more valuable.

CASSIDY77 There is a Millennium reprint that can be had for just a few dollars. I bought my 1988 reprint at a local comic store for $3, as well.

id like to qualify my statement on the 1988 action #1 reprint..when I say... most affordable... I dont mean cheapest..I mean affordable older copy in that it is 26 years old and sought after as a collectible..you can get action #1 reprints for 5 bucks as well..but I'm a collector

i decided to take the plunge and made offer for 950usd each for 3 gold 2014s on a presale...the guy said he would accept in an email....without an MC rep I'm just a little nervous about getting in on the #1 action..no pun intended

CASSIDY77 I'm a collector as well. And I know what you meant. I just mean I bought my 1988 reprint for $3 just a few years ago (yes, the one for the 50th of Superman) so I'm just surprised that people will pay $50 for a copy. What sorts of comics do you collect? Are you a big Superman fan, like me?

@wlouison.....i started collecting comics 3 yrs ago with a small Superman collection....after the Superman coins were released last year I got more serious and went into other areas like Spiderman..these days I'm back into Superman inspired by the upcoming Superman coin release so I've been getting #596 and the other comics in the ... Superman ....our world at war..series... just to support the 2014 Gold coin collection..I wouldnt sell my comics tho unless I was selling a coin to go along with it.......

you are a serious collector..i wish I had all my comics from childhood..i still have my childhood coin collection but the comics just disappeared

ive never read most of the comics I've bought...so in answer to silveroids question of what for?..that is a good question but I think the answer is always the same.....

obsession is the nature of the human mind
