Hi,
I got this nice little run of 6 uncirculated sequential 1988 $50 from my bank. I was wondering if you guys think that the ink smear on the first (and a tiny bit on the second) note is an error from the mint? Would this do anything to the value? Or would them being sequential do anything to the value?
I love that snowy owl...he's got such attitude! :)

Nice run on the bills, the ink smear on the first bill, does not add that much to the overall value of the bills, it would have to be much more dramatic to give you a premium on the bills. it appears to be the same red as the ink of this issue so would most likely be done at the printers.

With the sequential Serial # they appear to be Thiessen-Crow signatures, and this is the first pair of signature's on this bills series (BC-59a). There is some premium on the consecutive numbers, but a limited market for $50's and $100's.
