If it is legit it would be very rare.

I have not see one on a 1968 but I am sure there are others out there. Are they for sure nickel or possibly silver? To verify if genuine, you should double check the weights to see if they match dime planchets (2.33g if silver, 2.07g if nickel.

Cents on dimes, if good grade, typically sell for around $150 to $300 or so in an NGC or PCGS holder. Uncertified I would guess you would get $100 to $200.

If you decide to sell here or on ebay, let us know!!

Nathancrh1 were the coins known to be counterfeited?

How much would they be worth? Ballpark. They're not mint. I'll have pics up in a few hours.

Thanks.

He told you the difference in price, and it's significant, so I'd say yes.

I doubt that they are counterfeit in the "made in China" sense. But there are a lot of coins out there that are plated, trimmed etc. The weight & thickness are usually very good indicators. If they match a dime, then the coin is probably genuine.

The difference in price for a graded coin is significant. But with delivery and fees it will probably cost you about $100 to $150 to get them in US capsules so it is likely not worth the hassle and risk.

If you did want to sell it, I would put it on ebay with good quality photos and a good description. Or maybe consign it to a reputable auction like the one in October at CoinExpo. You might still be able to get it in their October catalogue in you rushed it. Or once you have 50 posts you could offer it for sale here.

Is your coin magnetic? That would be the first test, if it looks like a nickel-composition 10-cent.

Here are pics of the coins. Pics aren't great but should give you a good idea.

Thoughts?

Thanks for all your input.

I concur. Being solid nickel, almost every example I have from various dates in the 1970s, look exactly the same...

My thoughts? I would love to buy the one on the left!
