If I had to make a choice, I'd wait for October and grab the Glass Candy Cane and possibly the gilded fractional set.
Fractional set might be a demand item if the mintage is low (5,000) and/or has a nice case/presentation.

I think you'll be able to get the Grizzly for a while with a very small premium. First coin hasn't really gone up and that was the first in series. Not much possibility for this to go too high.

You can order the Grizzly now without problems even before October release because shipping starts end November so you can always cancel the order and credit card charge is on shipping.

Grizzly is available for non-MC members now. I picked up my 3. Literally zero downside to these. 1% cashback on my CC, so it cost me $5 to ship the three. I used the code: free1812 for some free book along with the $300+ order.

This $300 should easily get me into MC membership for the first time too. Until they inevitably increase the dollar threshold for MC.

Looks like RCM going with cheap cardboard cases to increase profit. If this continues, maybe someone is better off getting a graded coin?

For those that ordered a number of the Bison coins with the clamshell cases, just use the clamshell cases for the future coins! And voila, clamshell cases for future $100 for $100.

Also, the Mint boutique in Vancouver is taking pre-orders for the $100 coins.

What gets my goat is the mint is using the PERCEIVED "currency swap" to lower the quality of the coin. Case in point, the Grizzly Wildlife Maple coin has a face value of $5, and can be bought for $40-45, while the new coin is $100, and has a very inferior design. The mint is using the higher face value as a justification for shoddy design choices, and nobody is taking them to task for it.

I cannot believe they completely squandered the amazing momentum they had coming out of 2012, with the successful Wildlife series, and the great early $20 releases.

I still actively seek Wildlife maples, and I will collect as many sets as I can, but I took a slight loss on the $20 and $100 coins just to be clear of them.

Collect them if you want, but please understand that what you are buying is an overpriced specimen coin in the case of the $100 coins, and a "no-win lottery" bullion coin in the $20 series. The mints marketing message that you are "swapping" a $20 bill for a $20 coin, and that if you are crazy enough to redeem for face value, you can is borderline criminal. It's certainly immoral and irresponsible. No bank is going to take these as anything other than a favor. If you want one of each coin just because, go for it, but the rest of your money can be put to better uses.

Anjol, that is an extremely clear and concise post. You absolutely nailed it.

I regret having way too much money tied up in these coins and did in fact only order a few of the Santa to give as gifts this holiday season.

I stopped collecting after the penny. the cardboard takes up a lot of room even though I only buy 3 at a time. And I can't bring myself to throw them out. I think the demand is only there from resellers who stock up otherwise I'm not so sure they would sell out. But don't get me wrong I do like the 20 for 20 series. But I stayed away from the $100 coin.
