Thanks for pointing that out pepactonius, I'd have had no clue. I'll wait to get these links I posted verified before I buy them :D

EDIT: Ah my bad, you were talking about the objective, which I'm not concerned about just yet

If you don't really need high-magnification, the next step might be getting a bellows and/or axial lighting stuff, rather than the microscope objectives. Before getting into microscopy, it might be useful to hang out over at the photomacrography.net forum for a while.

I'll check that website out.

Sorry to be a pain, but I'm a bit confused. If I don't need the Plan 4 objective, do I need all the accessories on that list?

TobyJ, you need scale 1:2 to 2:1 for your camera sensor if you want only full
size coins.
So for your Nikon enlarger lens you must have extention ring about 70 to 170 mm for all
coins from 11 to 44 mm size
You can buy 2 helicoids M42 35-90 mm and combine both (70 to 180mm)
Working distance would be about 230 to 100 mm approx.

Just looking for extensions in The UK, are these correct?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-3-...AOSwMtxXtCWk

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASTRON-EX...AOSw4GVYPoX6

The set of three looks like a good buy?

Justwalking...that's not necessary. I use 1 helicoid and 1 set of extensions and I get perfect results!

If you confirm to reassemble your construction each time for varios size of coins such extension will be OK.

That's not the case either....I set my extensions for the largest coin and it works for all! I never reset anything for different size coins
