Thank you for your reply ElizabethTudor, could you also tell me your opinion on the crown I actually did purchase (it's on page 2 of this thread). Thank you in advance.

I think I might need to get my eyes checked. Or, as many of you have suggested, "trained" (the brain, not the eyes :P).

My apologies, but I cannot add anything further to what's been said, unfortunately. It's a pretty good grade, so your eyes are tuned into that aspect, so not all bad, but it has been polished to within an inch of its life, sadly.
My personal thoughts are it's not dipped! To get it that 'bright', would have dulled/blanched the surfaces a little bit more than they appear to be in your images. I think polished! Sorry!

If I remember the other crown had been dipped in "silver dip" and glinted like a soldiers button.

This one is...shall I say dodgy at its source.
I won't divulge more on an open forum but this one is being(was being) sold under his wife's account.

1/- = Shilling...shall I say.

Looks like that's the default setting, even if you add your email address to your profile ... it's the same for you Ad_Lit, I have just changed my setting.

Thank you, Paulus. I've modified my settings accordingly. I just hope peter1234 sees this and decides to accept a small chat with me.

I'm sure he will! I've got the impression he likes talking about coins?
