Dutch-Coin-1564?

Hi,
Just wanted some friendly advice on the attached coin that I have been given recently.

Sorry about the image, it hasn`t come out on here too well! I believe it to be dutch?

Its approx 36mm in diameter.

Date is 1564,the lettering is PHS.DG.HISPZREX.DVX.GEL

Any help would be gratefully appreciated!

Matt

Sort of! AFAIK "PHS.DG.HISPZREX.DVX.GEL" = Philipus Dei Gratia Hispania Rex Dux Gelderland

In other words it dates from the day of the Habsburg (Spanish) Empire and reads Philip, (by the grace of god) King of Spain and Duke of Gelderland (a province in the Netherlands)

I think your coin is a Spanish Netherlands.Gelderland, Philip II. 1564. 1/2 Philipsdaalder

The only one I could find sold for $250 in 2010. Picture below.

He's the chap that married our 'Bloody' Queen Mary I believe. Some English coins between 1554 and 1558 bear both of their busts.
