I have enjoyed reading the various comments and will probably let market forces decide by placing it on ebay. I am not sure if UK ebay can be seen in the US of A

I suspect you will surrender a considerable percentage of the coin's value by going this route, especially if it is sold raw and not in a TPG slab.

I got the coin for nothing and it would have remained undiscovered and lost had it not been for this forum

So thinking in terms of your percentages:

x/0=infinite%.

The Grandkids will appreciate the additional pocket money and what value can an old grand dad place on the pleasure it will give? After all I cannot take it with me!

Gotta say, I love the way you look at things. I did a quick comparison of ebay / Teletrade / Heritage and was surprised to see that XF 1885 nickels are not that far apart (who'd a thunk! )

The only downside I see to ebay is the lack of protection you might be opening yourself up to and the potential lack of exposure to American markets. Other than that, it sounds like it is time to remain SuperGrandpa. Please keep us updated on the outcome of your auction.
