The few Iberian AE coins I have seen tended toward the more standard 'Roman' sizes (As and Semis). I assume Visigothic coins would be more similar to the tiny 9-12mm "barbaric radiates" which were common in the 5th century. Otherwise I agree it looks 'Iberian'. Perhaps a consequence of being produced in the same area ? Report this Post to the Staff

It gives you lots of good options to follow up. Under 'coins of the Visigoths', I found Forum Ancient Coins, and searched a few bronze examples. Most of bronze coins of the Visigoths are around a gramme in weight, or less. that the coin pictured does not look to be Visigothic, and I also agree that it DOES look like to be pre Roman Iberian. Doucet Pillar of the Community United States 1315 Posts	Posted 09/24/2013 9:26 pm If you turn the reverse about 90 degrees counter clockwise there does appear to be a bull with a crescent above, although it doesn't seem to be a Castulo style bull. I know nothing of Visigothic, but could it be an ancient imitaion of the Castulo type? Report this Post to the Staff
