I collect mainly Italian coins from 1861 up to date (all regular);
than euro from 1999 up to date (all regular);
than few countries by date (USA, Switzerland, Romania) mints doesn't matter;
at the end all countries by KM# type in the last 2 centuries ...
of course it will never be completed or you will never get "GAME OVER" ... smiling

I collect by KM type for all countries mainly in the last two centuries but if I come across something older in a box or something, heh, it goes into the collection. I keep them in 2x2s in archival sheets in three ring binders.

I find most of my coins in boxes or have been given to me by friends and family. I do have some proof and mint sets. I find it nice to get the whole series of type coins for a particular time and absolutely know that they are uncirculated.

I have 2 main collections. I have an OFEC collection, but I have limited it to 1900 onwards. I came up with my definitive list from Krause, Wikipedia and the CIA notebook lists. For each country I also include one from each political period of their history, and one from a major coinage reform. That could be a devaluation or a change such as from francs to euros etc. My OFEC list has 605 entries and I have coins from all but 4 of them! 3 of those that I am missing are new for 2008 (Venezuela, Malta and Cyprus) so they won't be hard to get but the 4th one is for Italian Somaliland 1925. There are only 2 coins, the 5 and 10 lire and they go for at least $1000 when they do come up on Heritage Auctions so it may be a while until I complete my OFEC list!

My other collection is for every coin issued in 1963 around the world. This is the year I was born and makes a very personal but interesting collection. For this one I have identified 307 business strikes, a further 46 commemorative coins and 45 trial strikes, essais etc. I know I will never get them all but it sure is fun trying. (Some of them are so rare as to have 20 or so minted) The business strikes are definitely attainable and probably most of the commemoratives with time.

My coin collecting has been going on since I was a boy but has really taken off with the advent of ebay!

I recently moved from Germany, where I aquired a nice collection of Euros from most contries. I also collect quite a few other countries, as I travel a bit. I have coins from Thailand, Peru, Italy, and many countries.

I am focusing on US coins now, but am still interested in euros.

Greetings- John

Whatever coins that I find in the twenty-five cent box at the local coin club are fair game for me.

I collect a lot of foreign money, and British commemoratives (in as good condition as I can get them).

I especially like European coins, whether pre-Euro or Euros.
But my collection ranges from Hong Kong to Barbados.
Rest in Peace

Hi, I composed this post in another topic area that I was unable to post at(trade and sale area) but seemed a shame to waste it, after counting up the countries. I was amazed that there were 44 countries, Mexico, England, Canada, Ireland, Israel, Denmark, Norway, Russia (C.C.C.P.), Yugoslavia, Magaya, Turkey, Czechoslovakia, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Austria, Greece, France, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Hong Kong, Gambia, Uganda, Cameroon, Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia, Jamaica, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Malta, Barbados, Argentina, Mauritius, Brazil, and Switzerland. Some of the countries are limited to one or two coins, and others fill up a page.

Whoops make that 45 I forgot Australia

Spica, I really like your collection. I've been kicking around how and where to start my coin collection, and had settled on proofs, especially silver proofs. Since I like variety, I was also looking to do something the same as what you've accomplished so nicely.

Can you recommend some reputable online links to watch for world silver commemoratives? I'm in the USA. Thanks! (Who to stay away from would be nice to know, too. Right now, I avoid ebay and the likes as too unmonitored.)

Again, great collection!

I will collect anything, but I do have an interest in Old Italian coins as that is my heritage and the history behind them is wonderful

I have big modern (sort of post 1870s) collections of British, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Euro coins, plus I'm moving to austria in october, austrian coins are nice and cheap and varied enough. Plus also smaller bits of other countries, Russia and the US are the main ones as I used to work in the US, BEFORE (typically) I collected coins!!

I have an ever growing collection of Canadian coins but my "true love" is Swiss. Anything Swiss. I found a 1952 10 Rappen in change a month or two back and have been in love since. They're just so beautiful! The market for these is small here in New York and it is somewhat rare to find them at coin shows/shops so I've been working on aquiering them through trades. If anyone every wants to trade common Swiss for common American, send me an email and we'll work something out :)

unitl next time,
--Gary

Goal #1: One coin from every country currently existing
Goal #2: One coin from every country existing since 1900
Goal #3: One coin from every political/monetary change for every country existing since 1900
Goal #4: One coin of every variety since 1900

Another side project is to collect coin sets from major current events. For example, I just got a set of new Iraqi coins.
