When I first learned of the newer LEPE equipment the BEP is using for the 3rd printing on some of the series 2009 (fw) $1.00 FRN's about two weeks back, I was intrigued and have since then focused most of my time learning about the differences between both the COPE & LEPE systems and quite surprised at the final results.
After viewing Currency plate number locations for uncut 32 subject sheets of both systems, I now have a greater knowledge of assigned serial numbers per run, plate locations of each of each number, and if the note from the COPE numbering system had a switched plate number due to a 16 subject half sheet, it would be off by two quadrants (A3 with the serial number for A1).
Plate location for Serial Number 84147354 would be E1 if printed on COPE (Currency Overprinting & Processing Equipment) and F3 on LEPE (Large Examining & Printing Equipment).
I have made numerous 32 subject charts for personal use, and one of the uses is to chart all 16/32 serial numbers on said sheet where the 3rd print was printed on the reverse side.
I have a few 3rd print on reverse errors, and with what I have learned, I now feel 99% confident I can chart all assigned serial numbers for each 16 subject (half sheet) & 32 subject sheet (some 3rd print on reverse errors are printed on 1/2 sheets) given their plate location.
Since the web-fed test notes lack a plate number location, but cut into 32 subject sheets for COPE, I'm positive I found the exact plate location for each assigned serial number. This is important to me as I have one of the rare series 1988A web note with the serial numbers on the reverse, and with knowing the EXACT plate location can chart the assigned serial numbers for the other 31 notes in this run.
I hope to post this information in the coming days, and knowing there are CCF members that like to disagree on topic results, will doubt my findings... All I would ask is for anyone who thinks my results are in question, to start working on their own charts and plot what the serial numbers would be on their findings. â-ºI only mention this as I received a previous comment months back saying you can't know all the serial numbers on the error sheet, and this will be a challenge to said posterâ—„
I didn't mean to high-jack your thread, but wanted to share my findings.
