Here is maybe a odd and silly question but do you think there will ever be a time where a penny, that had a high mintage originally, will become a scarce/rare date because of the recent elimination and melt down of pennies? I tend to maybe think that those might just because they were less desirable for hoarders/collectors to keep because of the high mintage.

yes I believe so so keeping them safe is a good start,but probably not for another 20 or so years, so keeping them for your children could be a little fortune who knows ..

This is a good point you bring up. I think that the pennies from the 50's and prior may be easier to obtain because almost all of them have been pulled from circulation and are in collector/dealer hoards. Maybe 2012 pennies will be easy to get because everyone hoarded rolls of them but the rest may be scarcer one day.

On the other hand, common date pre-decimal UK coins are worth more or less nothing unless in top grades. I wouldn;t hold my breath.
