Canadian Penny - Rare, High Mintage?

rmc Valued Member Canada 478 Posts	Posted 10/28/2013 6:32 pm Here is maybe a odd and silly question but do you think there will ever be a time where a penny, that had a high mintage originally, will become a scarce/rare date because of the recent elimination and melt down of pennies? I tend to maybe think that those might just because they were less desirable for hoarders/collectors to keep because of the high mintage. I think that the pennies from the 50's and prior may be easier to obtain because almost all of them have been pulled from circulation and are in collector/dealer hoards. Maybe 2012 pennies will be easy to get because everyone hoarded rolls of them but the rest may be scarcer one day. Report this Post to the Staff
