I wouldn't do the deal in the guys parking lot or anything either... I mean, at most, I'd hand them my card and just mention that I'm interested in buying the coins if they wanna give me a call later.

I was in this situation the other day, a guy brings in 10 common dated circulated Morgans and the dealer gave him $25 each. He sells them for $27.

Parking lot is generally taboo as well, especially if the owner spots you. Trust me...if you want to do business there again...just don't do it. Doing a "parking lot deal" is just like hawking the door at a coin show....bad practice.

After she bought them for 20 bucks each you should have offered her 25 apiece like you wanted to offer the customer.

I treat this situation like everything else in life. If I wouldn't like it done to me, I don't do it to other people. I see deals going down all the time. Two things. One, this guy is trying to make a living. The way he goes about doing it is not my call (or business). Two, I don't like burning bridges. I have built a relationship with the only two good sources for coins in my area. Cut his throat on a deal, and my special treatment (calling dibbs, getting first look at newps etc.) goes out the door. It's like biting the hand that feeds you.

I have a great relationship with two dealers....one I buy from regularly, and when say regularly...I mean a lot...and another I regularly sell/consign with. What I don't keep from the dealer I buy from, I sell/consign to the other. Both are always happy to see me. I consign so much at one dealer he sometimes asks me to help in a sale if it involves my items. Is a very healthy relationship for everyone involved.
