I believe my next one that can be attributed to a specific date is 240 CE. I'll be waiting a long time. The next coin that I can get almost down to one year is from 1354-1355.

My next is 570 AD (though I have a dated coin from a few decades later that I haven't identified properly yet). I'm not sure if it's even theoretically possible to get that far.
There was a thread a while back about single-year coins from the 1st century AD. Between the CCF members participating we almost fully covered the century. Might be worth it to make a general "single year coins" thread in the Ancients forum to see what pre-1600 years are represented among CCF members' collections. I'd expect the 1st century BC, say, to be a lot better represented than the 8th century AD (and for the 5th and 7th centuries AD, some years might not actually be attested at all). (What happened to Medieval, anyway? He spent 5 months on CCF, making several thousand posts, and generally showcasing his ludicrous skills on coin identification, then randomly disappeared one day and was never seen since - not that I know of, anyway.)

I saw that thread, but don't have anything to post there. The problem with these "Backwards" threads is that they get stuck, stranding folks with earlier coins. Some additional threads with different rules might let us see some of these earlier coins. One possibility would be a "Dated European coins prior to 1501" thread, which would include coins covered by Frey or Levinson (no ancients or Islamic, etc.). There would be no backwards progression. Maybe posters would be limited to 1 per day. Most people probably don't have many coins qualified for a thread like this, so I doubt you'd need to throttle it back by year or decade.

Most people who don't explicitly collect "early dated" would likely have zero of those (and I'd love to have a few but doubt I could afford them), and you'd get someone claiming that their Roman or Byzantine dated coins are European (there are, of course, a good deal more of those around).

Any one of you could easily start a thread like that with any rules you want (or do not want). I will not stop you.

I had been hoping to flush out a 1491 dated coin with my early dated coins of Europe thread over in the Ancients and Medieval section of CCF, but nothing so far from that year.

Good effort, though. We will keep waiting. Meanwhile, The Third Edition is gaining ground.
