@Northerncoins Yea I know,, I had that thought come to my mind when this series first started. To tell you the truth, I kinda liked this series at launch... as I have seen and enjoyed a bit of Lake Superior.... tho this was not a must want and have series for me, in fact after time passed the only one I really want is the Lake Michigan coin as that lake I have swam in at from various states, I have trained for marathons on Lake Michigan and have always enjoyed its majestic beauty in Chicago. So the Lake Michigan coin is a must for me... as I started to observe tho, I started seeing the first coin in the series show up for auctions, then graded slabs of it, and prices started to, once again, drop drop drop and its all seemed to accelerate downward along with the price drops in PMs. I feel like just about every coin is in massive Overstock at dealers everywhere and on top of it, some individuals also are selling. The biggest clue tho I got, was once again, when Silvertowne had one of these as a special one day sale,,, and thats usually a hint that prices are going to drop even further, and they have... in fact any big dealer that slashes prices, which are still too high,, is basically a signal or foreshadowing that the entire series is going to drop in price, or if not in a series, that specific coin was a major flop.... so bottom line,, keep stalking and be patient, there are deals to be had, I bet you can get two coins for the price of one as I have been saying...

I did the same as Northerncoins except I cancelled after receiving the 3rd coin, so patiently waiting for good deals for the last 2 coins

All the coins have been influenced.
And seriously got a "hit" series, which also were distributed as a singles. "O Canada", "Lakes", "Ducks" (except bundle with the box and duck call), "Go7". Nor "Explorations" neither "Sacred Teachings" have some appreciation.

If your not going to sell the set, you have nothing to worry about.
Enjoy it.

Thats true to a point but I dont think most people like having spent top dollar on limited mintage premium coins only to have them lose their value 50 percent with in a year, as much as the mint might think they don't have to peg their price to spot value but, I mean come on why do their coins keep increasing while spot value has been decreasing, I am not saying they should be anywhere near spot value but there should be some connection with it but they seem oblivious to that fact or just don't care.

RCM had 70 sellouts on 200 issues in 2013. So 1/3 of coins were "hot". They are the ones that are worth more as there is demand. For the Great Lakes, it started out well but stalled. Some quality issues. Now Dogs. I'm not selling mine. I like the coins. I would rather all my coins went up in value but know that this is not realistic. I know what you mean Northerncoins, but it's very unpredictable. Hot coins become cold fast. GITD Dinos. Canopy coins. Best way to ensure you get full value when you sell your coins is to buy them at 50% of retail. So purchase the coins on the secondary market, then you will feel better about selling. If you buy from RCM and price goes down, don't lament, use it as a lesson, next time wait. You can buy bullion coins if you want to be close to spot.

Well I wont be selling mine since I have the first two and the case, just going to try and pick up the rest , I think they display well but its a sin how they dropped in value, although I think the mint is messing up when they sell subs and then singles of the subs , if there where only subs of the great lakes for example then I don't believe we would have all these singles pulling down the value of the set.
I think in the future if the mints does this I wont even bother contemplating sighing up for the sub on what ever it maybe. Although it will make getting some of the coins cheaper , I would rather see a stable value sets/subs then all those extra singles floating around dragging down the values.
hmmm just realized I have the first "3" coins lol, I remember now that I had cancelled the sub but that the third one was shipped before it was actually fully cancelled ...so only need two more coins to finish the set.

Northerncoins : Is there one single subscription where RCM didn't sell individually the coins?

Quote:Northerncoins : Is there one single subscription where RCM didn't sell individually the coins? Unfortunately, for all "standard" subs, they sell also the individual items. The unique subscriptions were: "F15" (except the 2012, while first the reps and later the mint offered some singles) "Vintage Silver Dollar" subscription Will be better, if RCM will handle some of the subscriptions as "solid sets". Btw, even some of the sets, they sell coins separately (like recent "Cougar" or "Maple Leaf").

This set (which I subscribed to) is one of the very few RCM NCLT products that I will not be getting rid of... now, if I could only convince the RCM to make coins with glacial Lake Agassiz, glacial Lake Ojibway and glacial Lake Peace...

Yes SPP I agree with ya, I also think that this set is a sleeper set and that later on it could very well be in demand. Quote:Northerncoins : Is there one single subscription where RCM didn't sell individually the coins? You know I didn't think too much about that until this series , I guess its just me and I haven't been paying attention lol. I think they should start adding an extra coin for those who get subs and you can only get the coin with the sub as the last coin ...I mean you get a box which is nice "if" its a wooden one , but add a speical coin to reward those who pay the premium and get the full sub from the mint or from a dealer whatever, I think I will email the mint with this great idea! Then that extra coin would be tied to the Subs mintage and not the over all mintage's of all the coins/ single coins etc. Oh and does anyone know the actual number of subs that were sold?

Some people purchase through the Mint paying full price to maintain Masters Club status as well. Free delivery benefit, advanced notice, reps, etc. Having first access to certain hot coins is crucial to financing the purchase of future coins that collectors want. So picking winners has become the name of the game. If you invested in the O Canada, Great Lakes or Group of Seven, you're kicking yourself. But if you spend a lot and are a flipper, it makes sense to have that pipeline open to the Gold Superman or other coins that can be flipped for a profit. If singles were not offered, then people would just order the sub and cancel at their own timing, as is done now to get the box or the first of the issue, which is usually the popular coin. (GITD Dino, Gof7, Canopy, others in these series are at discounts).
