Justsilver is correct. It is the 5 KG Haida Gwaii coin that originally sold for $9999.95. The Haida Gwaii Sculpture is made by famous world renown BC aboriginal artist Bill Reid. There is two of them in existence. One is in the Canadian Embassy in Washington and the other one is at the Vancouver International Airport.
If you are ever in Vancouver, you can see it in the International Departure Lounge of the Vancouver Airport.
It will go for below issue price for sure. If you exam these estate auctions, items always go below expected prices. Last year there was a lot of press on Hulk no.1 comic sold by Able Auctions that was predicted to sell for $10,000. It eventually sold for $6500.
There is around $3400 CDN value of silver in the coin, I can't see it going below the value of silver. I think it will sell for around $5000. Maximum $7000 but not close to issue price. Remember there is a commission fee for the Auctioneer of 17% and PST of 7% on top of that. So if you bid $8000 on it, the cost would be equivalent to the issue price.
