Now by my tastes...that thumbprint at 9 o'clock kills any aesthetic desirability to me...would love to hear others thoughts

UGLY strike on the reverse - NO feathers on the chest. Reason that I do NOT buy toned coins like this.

Not much better obverse strike - the curls in the hair are flat and lack definition.

At best, this is an AU58 coin....and as you pointed out....WITH a thumbprint.

I agree. I looked at the other 1936 Washington quarters that have sold on Heritage in this year and the prices range from $305.50 to $646.45. Each of these coins look to be much nicer than the coin on ebay.

The coin on ebay shows the NGC "List" price at $555.00. The toning on the ebay coins would turn me away from the coin at $555 and I wouldn't think of it at $775. The toning and fingerprint kill the coin for me. I have nothing against toned coins, but this toning makes a mess of the coin for me. With coins selling at half the asking price with much nicer toning, I'm at a loss as to the asking price on ebay.

It's not a coin for me.

If you get a chance, go to HA.com and look at the coins they've been selling this year. I think they are far better examples of a 1936 25c with and without toning.

Im thinking they probably made that coin look worse than it is in an attempt to make the silver look extra "white".

That said I dont like that type of toning either.

What a piece of crap! I thought CAC was supposed to grade based on "eye appeal", too.

Males me suspect it is one of the coins people replace in slabs that have been opened. Or could be a fake slab. Or maybe rust got into the camera used to make those photos.

One word for y'all...

SCAN.

Scans make pretty much any coin look like crap.

A very ugly coin that will tend to bring a high price simply due to the number on the label.

"gotthecoin" does not "gotabuyer" in me.
Even the Mickey Mantle card is a copy.
That quarter: should be dipped to put it out of its misery.

Alan Hagar, the seller, doesn't usually take good photographs. I think you need to at least consider that the coin has iridescent toning and could be better looking in person. CAC doesn't willy nilly give away stickers- although they can always let a bad coin or two sneak by.

How much of the toning occurred since the time the coin was slabbed? It may have been much nicer.
