Just pulled from a CWR of Pennies. 1911 S Wheat cent. *Unfortunately, someone scratched 2 deep gouges across Lincoln Still a keeper and definitely a nice filler for my cent collection.

Really too bad about the scratches but dang what a find! I bet that was set free by a collector who upgraded.

nice coin anyway.... Sad about the scratches but some people they have no idea what they are doing ...I found my first 1911 , no mint mark, weeks ago and was in good circulation condition but yours looks much better ! Congrats !

Very tough date to find in the wild. I would wish the scratches away for you if I could

Congrats on a great find.
I had to buy one last Sunday at a local coin show because I was tired of staring at the empty hole and it was the one of the last affordable holes to fill.

Nice Find! Even with the scratches at a rural coin auction several hands would come up with a starting bid of $20.00 cause even a G-4 books at about $40.00 and this is a Semi Date in anyone's book. IMO an 1911-S in XF (without problems) goes from Scarce to Extremely Scarce and I would call AU or better (again without problems) Rare. This is why it outshines 12-S 13-S 14-S and 15-S in XF-MS-60. The coin is just that difficult.
