I am always terribly afraid of "pretty" silver coins.
Are you 100% sure about this one ? The portrait of Vespasian seems odd and looks much like Galba (which of course is not unknown to happen).
The reverse legend is curiously curved and the 'dejected' Judean prisoner appears to be looking skyward instead of the typical downward appearance.
It is the upward look of the prisoner which puzzles me the most. I am not sure I have ever seen one like it. Prisoners are generally 'downcast' and one arm supports a tilted head.

I pretend no expertise on Roman silver and this is one coin I would love to own (despite my rule against silver). I just get very nervous about them !

Good points F.R.
If I remember correctly I checked the fake reports at Forum and found no match. This was some years ago. I should probably check again. The coin is ex ebay at least 10 years ago, but that of course
is no assurance.

Tossing 2 of my favorite ancients I own up on the grading block:(Sorry about the terrible photos, using a barely smart phone and loop, in the natural Oregon light)

Any opinions welcomed!

First one is a Caracalla Denarius:

Second coin is a Byzantine era Romanus III:

Two nice coins. I would grade the Caracalla at aEF and the Romanus III at EF. I really like that one and wish I had one.

Two of the nicest Silqua I've seen. I's say EF for both.

Thanks echizento. I'm thinking about sending of the Romanus III to get slabbed. I got it for a great price from a shop that really does little in anything but US.

Hi, I found the photos of my Mesembria Thrace Diobol. It is still in the lockbox but I had posted the photos on another site in 2005, asking if it looked authentic or looked like part of the Black Sea or New York forgeries. I received three positive opinions for authenticity.

I would love to have some of you grade it as well as share your thoughts on its authenticity.

jdiablo30 asked to see it on my Hi post. Here 'tis.

Elagabalus 218-222 AD AR Denarius. I love the tone on this one but wasn't sure if it was all original. Some weakness in spots. Thoughts on a grade?

IGE, you coin has nice toning and is fairly well centered. There is a bit of a weak strike, but overall I would grade it at VF+.
