There are some very attractive coins in this thread. That 1849 dime was specially nice.

Guys, sorry for the quality of my scans. I'm not really into varieties, and errors all that tough, so I don't know much in that area. I have a question about my 1850 Seated dime - is the date high on it, or is that normal for that particular coin?

Ralph you have a variety known as an A-3/F-103 it is identifiable by the "185" touching the base of the rock as well as the die flash around the bow on the reverse which is evident, even in your scans. Look at my 1849 for the exact same type of due flash around the bow. I have a 1200 closeup showing.
that's a nice coin you have and is an R2

Ralph I enjoy seeing your dimes. I started a Seated dime collection back in 2008 and mine is a long ways from complete. Seeing your coins and everyone's photos has made me want to pick up some more Seated coinage. -MV

MeadowviewCollector - thanks - I started on my set of date/mint mark Seated dimes sometime within the past five years, too. I'm still missing eleven to complete the set, but the ones missing are all high-dollar coins, so I don't think I'll be picking any of them up any time soon.....big want list - thin wallet.

Any variety is a keeper IMO but I am a variety hound for this series so really just one man's opinion. I'm with you guys as well but I am just going for a business strike date set for now.
I do hunt for varieties in each year I manage to pick up and I have even found some great "storytelling" dimes that were in certain die states at the mint so that one die pair created variations within the variations. I do not confess to actually know I am looking for what I am as much as I'll say when I see any item on the coin that looks out of place I will pounce and later on discover the details of what I saw. Its awesome.
Your 1850 is awesome

I do like that half dollar I love all of these coins 1851 This double date is #32 on the top 100 LSD varieties list, an R4 coin. The misplaced digit is awesome on this series when you come across one as well.
