Guy Fawkes Day is remembered on Nov 5, the anniversary of the "Gunpowder Plot" of 1605. The Gunpowder Plot was a conspiracy to blow up the English Parliament in 1605, for the purpose of starting a Catholic uprising in England. Guy Fawkes was one of the conspirators, and was captured as he entered the cellar beneath Parliament where the gunpowder was stored. Every Nov 5, Guy Fawkes Day is celebrated in Great Britain with fireworks and bonfires, where effigies of Fawkes are burned. Of course, I'm skipping over a few details, but I think I got the basics.
