One thing I was seeing was the reason for gold and silver and other precious metals being used in computers was that it will not corrode easily. Data loss was the main reason for the precious metals, so I'd have to wonder about a truck radio from a time when a single computer needed 3 trucks to move it, how much the manufacturer spent on signal loss, pre-computerized so no data to lose. Build it to break and replace it cheap. Still without pictures no clue.

It really isn't the gold in it. I don't know if it has any or not. I noticed a lot of capacitors just on the edge. I'll try to get pictures.

Could the radio have mercury switches? How can you tell?
