Hi there, I just bought from this seller on ebay:

slo_muenzen

I was wondering if his coins are real as they come from HOČE, Slovenia. To my knowledge, some counterfits have come from there, but they coins he sells look pretty authentic as no two have the exact same wear.

For example, is this coin that he is selling real?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OSTERREICH-...em46183d0391

The Coins that I did buy were (item number):

301052028725
291044332368

Any help is appreciated.

He's a top rated seller with 100 percent feedback and a 14 day return policy. Not sure if they are authentic but if you find out they are fake, there shouldn't be any problems returning them. Also, something looks off about the first coin, looks like it may have been polished but I am by no means an expert.

No issue with the two first coin, I don't think it's worth to fake them for less than an USD :D
Regarding the last one, looks genuine to me, although heavily cleaned (polished ?).
The seller statistics, as stated above, are perfect - I don't see any issue.

Rather confusing, In the Item specifics he calls the Austrian kreuzer uncirculated, but in the description it's F-VF, and the obverse is GF or possibly VF at best.

The Hungary Krajczar is way over-graded, GF with a very weak shield/VF at best.

The 1822 thaler is graded by him as SS-VZ which equates to VF-EF. It looks more like AU to me, possibly polished, with a surprising bite out of the rim at the E of AVSTRIAE. The V of AVSTRIAE seems out of alignment. It raises my suspicions.

Let's see what austrokiwi says.

Just saw this that thaler looks genuine to me.......but it looks like someone has taken to it with some metal polish or a dremel with a polishing wheel. That might be an artifact of the photograph but a lot of high detail appears to be missing on the obverse. That "E" is interesting but it doesn't make me suspicious as counterfeiters contemporary and modern would avoid mistakes like that.

As for reliable, Who know? good feedback doesn't always = trustworthy, likewise being east European doesn't make you untrustworthy. I have dealt with some really reliable sellers in Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria and had horrific experiences with French, American and UK based sellers. A good initial test, in Europe, is to see if the seller lists bank account details, that usually indicates a coin dealer and a reliable seller. At the bottom of that listing you can see the bank account details....listed in the required form. For me that tells me I can trust the guy and if anything goes wrong I can track him down( but I live in Europe). I can't comment on grading Chrisild may be able to comment better. However I am amused to see that SS-VZ is perceived by at least one person as equating to AU......As a general principle I take the american grade( not the numerical value) and drop it a full grade to get the European equivalent.

I don't see anything that would tell me those coins you bought, are other than genuine.
