I love it when they say 'noD,' and I can see the "D" from here http://www.ebay.com/itm/1922-no-D-L...ht_222wt_900It's obviously a bad listing, and I reported it yesterday. Unfortunately there is now a bid on the coin...actually hoping it's a shill bidder so no one gets hurt. Have seen the term "shiny lustre" before from a questionable Canadian seller. Methinks it might be the same person.

Quote: While, this might not be the worst coin, but it's pulling for the worst photo. Yeah, it might be a very nice coin, if we could only see it. I guess we'll have to take his word (not) that it has "all 4 diamonds" and "a bold full Liberty with no marks or nicks."

Is this another one of those auctions auctioning off 1 cent with local pick up only where it's really intended to pad feedback for buyer and seller? http://www.ebay.com/itm/2010-S-Gem-...em19ea415b31This time it says it's a Proof cent, but I'm not seeing that in the photos. Edit: He has about 30 or so successful completed auctions of these.

There seem to be several sellers doing that local pickup random 1 cent, honey packets, salt packets, and a number of other pointless things. I'm not sure what it all is.

Creating ebay accounts with a superficially convincing backstory to sell to scammers. Over a period of months (so they don't appear new), each account will buy / sell a few items to others. Only transaction with any other member. They leave harmless but nice appearing feedback "Great Coin, wish I had bought both". Then they will buy or sell 1 or 2 cheap real items - so if you or I check a little deeper, the most recent transaction looks legit too. Finally the accounts are sold to scammers who now have a 3 or 6 month old account with 10 legit coin sales, exactly what you or I look for from a relatively new buyer. How deeply do you ever really check a seller? At least that's my guess...
