I received a reply to my email.

Hi Steve:

I hope you're doing well!

We have seen this before, and it definitely appears to be post-BEP. Your hunch of environmental damage seems consistent with my way of thinking. Whether it was a thermal or chemical reaction, I could only begin to guess by looking at a picture. Either way, I wouldn't be thinking of adding these to your error collection!

Wishing you a safe and happy New Year!

Hello
Oddly enough these bills were in my possession I could not get them to go into the ATM at the bank so I went inside of the bank and a group of tellers began to gather in the back trying different methods on my bill and I thought what is happening? These come from a customer who bakes me cookies and her husband is a prominent physician in the city and she had just withdrew those bills the day before at her bank. The teller comes out with a yellow piece of paper stating that they are confiscating my bills that they pass every other test so I was out the money it cost me a client over this her husband was extremely upset He pulled both mortgages from the bank that they pulled the money out from.. Yes they were green stripes on $100 bills I have images of them so 6 months later the bank replaces the money in my account tells me they are sending the bills to where torn ripped or burnt bills go I offered to keep them they told me I could not I have scoured the internet to see if any of these have popped up it appears that your wife works for a bank and it appears that those bills were in my possession. What a shame . I have no idea what they're worth as I have never found any since then I just thought this was interesting. My bank is located in Portland Oregon I will send images it would be interesting to know if there was another set although chances are they're probably the ones that you have If you have any questions if they are real or not they are real I have the paper from the Treasury department.

I miss you are interested I do have what was sent to me from the treasury stating that the bills are legitimate. I had three at my Portland Branch Bank that were confiscated this was several years ago I was frustrated as I knew there would probably be another one but if I can be of help by showing you what I received from the Treasury department. This was probably 2014 I think? I'll go back through my cloud and my phone and find the info if you like. Kim

I've seen several threads recently concerning the woven ribbon on modern $100 notes. I wholeheartedly agree with member Lettow. Submit the note to a third party grader for authentication. PCGS and PMG have examined millions of notes. If it's an authentic BEP error, then convincing would-be buyers becomes a whole lot easier.
