Ben, that's about as slick an example of a Norwich castle token that I've ever seen. You didn't take a sander to it did you?

Its actually nicer than I expected. Edge lettering is readable, added bonus.

Heres a mixed lot. A bunch of generic stuff, 3 conders and a Blake 2d (my 5th). The reason I went after this lot was the Carmarthen Halfpenny.

Ive not picked any up for quite a while, but I have listed some myself, in the spirit of free listings. If they do sell, Ill lose some stuff that I had scoured the internet for for months. Hence the ludicrous price. I'm just interested to see if anyone will bite - coins of the period are so expensive in America, after all.

Hello all
What do you make of this John Wilkinson Iron Master token. It is dated 1794 but the legend and date are too close or even over the edge. Also, the edge is blanks. Sorry about the picture size.
Mark

Its a mule, produced for collectors, but many circulated (perhaps forgeries entirely made for circulation, but definitely a mule). They were struck on small flans, presumably to save money. I have a couple - the token at the top of this page is one.

apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but it is "The" Conder Token Thread.

Does anybody know of a broad (dare I say "comprehensive") semi-reliable pricing reference/guide for Conder tokens?

I am aware of
http://www.abccoinsandtokens.com/En...Conders.html and
http://www.condertokens.net/about.php and
http://www.coinsandstamps.com/forei...r_tokens.htm

and I have the D&H reference (available for free online-- http://provincialtokencoinage.weebly.com/ )

Is there a more "comprehensive" pricing guide--online or, egads, in paper format? (yeah, right, like you can get anywhere near "comprehensive" for such a huuge body of coins/tokens)

TIA

yes it is a great thread indeed, if only I could help keeping it "alive"

but I can't do anything useful - the copper tokensI collect from The Netherlands precede the period of the Conder tokens by too much time

I have some questions to pose to Conder specialists and thought I'd rekindle this old thread to perhaps get enlightened about a piece that's long been in my collection.

Some years ago, I submitted the piece below to SEGS. Larry Briggs conducted three specific gravity tests and determined it was silver. It's well worn and may have been an abolitionist's pocket piece.

Last year, I took this slabbed coin to a show, that its metal content could be precisely analyzed by electronic testing. The result was 80% SILVER and 16% COPPER.

This year, I sent it to NGC. I noted the testing result and suggested they might confirm same. They returned it, intact, saying it was plated.

Initially, I'm wondering about silver Conder tokens in general. I'd just as soon avoid discussing NGC until later.

I see that there are a few silver-plated Conders on ebay and elsewhere. Nowhere do I see the percentages of their metal content given. Is it reasonable to call an 80% silver tokens plated? It occurs to me that Canadian silver coins measure 80%, mixed with other metals as hardeners. Can anyone point me to a source that discusses silver Conders?
