Hello guys!

I've just purchased a silver Seated Liberty one Dollar coin. But is an error on the coin... The date printed is 1807...they were produced between 1840-1866.

Does any of you heard about this type of error?

Yes, the coin is undoubtedly fake. It is likely a Chinese fake.

Where did you purchase the coin? (ebay, local store, etc). Can you post a picture of the coin for us to see?

I've purchased it from an old friend, in London. He's about 68 years old, and owned the coin for a while. He told me that he found the coin on a construction site in the 70's...

The proof is in the pudding; this coin wasn't even designed until three decades after the date on it.

Welcome to the CCF. Sincerely hope that you didn't pay much for this fake. If so, your friend will perhaps give you a refund.

To my knowledge, being fifty-plus years of serious coin collecting, fakes like this were not available in the 1970's. These began appearing in the 1990's. They typically appear to be in XF+ condition, having a lackluster, light gray appearance. Of course, it doesn't take much effort to artificially age these fakes, thereby giving them a more authentic appearance.

You have got to stop just spreading meaningless posts around like manure in a cornfield and start reading things.

That is one really bad fake. The date isn't close to looking correct
