Hi,

Here I have a bronze coin with a countermark in it.
27 mm diameter and it weighs about 7.3 gr.
The only symbols/letters that I can read are on the reverse side : a large SC with a countermark . But I think the countermark is AVG ? I also think it is a dupondius with a bare head right.
I know it is a poor quality coin but for me counts the history about it.

Thanks for your advice.

Greetings from Belgium

Hans

Thanks for the link Masis, but I don't find anything like it on that side. Maybe the coin is to much worn.

I think the coin is either Augustus or Tiberius, I can't make out the countermark though.

Cant quite make out the counterstamp, but the first letter looks like an A. Theres pages on counterstamps otu there which show which coins host which stamps, might be worth a look.

Also, its nice to have someone else on the forum who is a fan of these chewed up low grade coins. I have quite a few which would be sitting unloved in a dusty box somewhere awaiting melting if I didnt have them. The cull piles often contain some really nice and rare stuff.

That was also my thought but I think the countermark is AVC or something like that because I see clearly a V in the middle.
Thanks for the comment
