Hi moose. To identify your note as 325a or 325b I believe there are two ways. 1) the date - this is located in the writing to the lower left of the central design. 2) I think the 325b notes had the letter B in the upper left portion on the note under the first part of the serial number. It would have been black and show clearly - even on this worn note. So assuming these two points are correct you should have 325a. Since you have the note in hand it might be easier for you to see the date or focus in on it enough to determine that. That is a well used note. However, I was excited to see it.

Moose - I well remember seeing numerous 100-peseta notes in that sort of condition when I lived in Spain in 1982, just before the note was replaced by a coin. Here's a really ugly Brazilian 500 Cruzieros, countermarked 50 Centavos when the currency was revalued in 1967. I found this note stuffed into a gap between bricks in a classroom wall in my school (in England) back in the 1970s! You can see the details better on the scan than on the actual note!

Thank you scopru for the information on the Greece note. It is definitely a 1950, I do not see any "B" below the serial number so I an guessing it is a 325a like you said. great information.

Yes SIR. Did you see, my post? I stated that. I understand you are a marine . By the way I was attached to a Stryker Brigrade USA, which was attached to the 2 marine div. in Iraq. So does that make me a Marine?

It is Marine - capital M. It is a proper noun. Does being attached make you a Marine - only if you were one of the Devil Docs - aka Navy Corpsman who are attached to Marine units. Otherwise, you are just a wannabe Ahhh nothing like the back and forth between branches.

Just saw this thread as I was trying to get rid of this note, can't even give it away! It is an official "Short Snorter", signed by US Servicemen in WW2. Have no idea who any of them are that can be read. Note came from an estate auction here in town of an older WW2 veteran, possibly his. He was a Marine in the Pacific theater was all I could find out, this may have been in a wallet from the condition it is in. Pix are actually better, in person bill is slick, glossy black(lower left reverse shows that).

Quote: some well used post WWII Italian Military script, not the worst one on here but.. By coincidence, I just came into possession of some of those notes. The 50 Lire is actually kinda attractive ("normal" dollar size, and aqua colored). But speaking of Italy, here is an entry in the ugly contest, from the same batch of notes (an uncle during his WWII service). 1,000 lire Bank of Italy issue from the same year, 1943:
