So is the mint allowed to strike coins for a previous year? If not, they had to have struck everything for these sets last year.

Correct...it takes longer to get the packaging together than to mint the coins....they were all minted in 2013

sooooo, I been behind here in collecting and what not. I just read about the numbers changing for the 2012 set.
When I first learned about this set a year ago, I just thought I had to have it. Well, I got it the first one, and as I have stated many times, this is just a beautiful set,, for many reasons.
anyways, I was waiting for the Feb shipping date.. now the Mint releases its audit and the rush is on for this set. I say that because I just ordered mine and I was told I will get one, but in the past 2 days, they are down to a couple hundred sets.
So if you are the fence about this set, NOW is the time to make up your mind because they are going to be gone. From what the order taker told me, they sold a boatload in the past days, they had a huge spike in sales.
I can help but laugh, because when I first got this set in 2012, everywhere, it was like no one liked it lol

I ordered my 2013 Limited Set 2-3 weeks ago and it shows backordered but expecting to ship mid-March. I'm upset with myself for not buying the 2012 when I had the chance. Oh well. Good thing I bought all those 3-coin ATB sets for 15x face instead. |

Wow! that WOULD be a spike in sales. As of the 16th they had sold a tad over 39k (39,370) sets so that would mean 10,000 sets in the last few days...last week they sold 1282 sets which is about the weekly average So I guess we should be expecting a sellout in the next few days.... On the phone with the Mint now....tried twice to order a couple of more sets...got a confirm #'s via email but they did not show in my orders page...
Mint says "in suspended status and they will disappear in 24 hours"
on hold while they try and figure it out....I bet they sold out already..I will update soon

Ok....kinda got it straight. Seems there is a gremlin in the ordering page for these sets and it is throwing SOME into suspended status (toast). No issues with payment..totally a glitch but they will probably get cancelled in 24 hours.
I did have her update me on the status of remaining sets and she said she showed over 10,000 sets remaining which is very much in line with the numbers posted by the Mint on Tuesday.
Not a sellout candidate in the very near future...

Hmmm interesting..... because the lady from last night told me that roughly 10K sets had been run through....
so who do you believe then? I am going to err on the side that we got a stampede. Man I wish I remember the name of the lady so we could compare notes offline.
But,,, if this is the case that the lady I talked to had it wrong then and they have ample supply, I feel even better because I Am guaranteed of getting my set lol
cant wait to see what happens lol

I just think it weird that this ordering issue looked exactly like what would happen if it WAS sold out...so the jury is still out. I will call on Monday and see the status of my "suspended" orders and try to re-order. She did say exactly "It look like we still have just a few over 10k left so that should not be a reason for the snafu" Stay tuned  (and the new sales numbers will be out on Tuesday anyway) |

I ordered 2 more sets on the 21st and my status is "order request is on hold"

"On hold" is normal for accepted orders...
My 2 orders that were "suspended" are now active and also "on hold"..they were still suspended as of 10am today but now look fine.
I am looking forward to tomorrows report of number of sets sold...My guess is that they will still have around 9k or more available.

As I was told, today's Mint report states there are still 9,225 sets left to be sold
Long way from a sellout (unless they just decide to shut the off before the 50k)

I think the price point might be a significant factor in the inability to sellout. Also, the fact that the marketing geniuses at the Mint are doing this a year out of phase. It's a bit odd to deliver the 2013 set in the 3d month of 2014.
Despite the issues, I still think this is a beautiful set. If it becomes valuable in the future, that's just icing on the cake.

Hey I am glad I got one, I started alread with the 2012 set so I am happy to hear theres plenty of supply, nothing worse than having to pay up on the secondary market!
