It has been awhile since I have bought an Ancient 'keeper' for myself. Most of my new coins have been late 19th century modern coins. I came across this one and liked it and figured 'why not' since I had some extra money sitting in paypal and could easily justify the price.
I admit it won't win any beauty contests but what really drew me in was the reverse. The obverse is not the greatest anymore but the hawk looks very nice on the reverse.
I am still playing with photos. I had too much light I think on this one and couldn't get the remaining letters to come out since they are faint. The nice red-brown colour did come out though.
Hadrian Obol, Alexandria, Year 11

Rev. Hawk standing left wearing skhent L-IA across fields
Koln 963, Dattari 2043, Emmett 1163

This is one of those coins I really like since it mixes the three cultures of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman.
Thanks for taking a look!
