I won these two pieces on Great Collections last month and decided to take advantage of PCGS' $5 re-holder offer for the their new hologram holders and added the TrueView. The pics came out really well and accurately depict the stunning colors of these pieces. The dime is a MS63 and the quarter is a MS64. These are two of the nicest Seated coins I have ever owned. Thanks for looking!

love them both

the dime is a Type II Reverse which is more common than the Type I. Awash noted

Quote:
44 Obverse and 37 Reverse dies, together with eleven dies held over from 1876 used in this (1877) year. The eleven old dies that were held over were all Type I's.

Yours is interesting in that the die crack coming out of the left wreath tip and going upwards until it exits the rim is not one I can find in the known variates table. Now there are a half dozen cracked reverse dies in the Type II so you could have a known die in a particular state but I am not able to match your crack on one that has shattered further or not yet shattered enough. I am curious now...

Great coin

Could it be a F-109?

http://seateddimevarieties.com/date..._109page.htm

My reasoning for that is the die clash line in the left wreath....unless I am seeing something that isn't there.

Maybe dsfree or someone else with more experience can confirm or tell me I am way off base.

Wow...great coins!
On the 1877 dime--did they use the same date punch as used for the 1877 IHC? Sure looks it!
