Decided to take a chance on a 'semi' uncleaned Nero As (via Antonio)

Got the easy stuff off rather quickly. Whether I can do better with a long bath in olives remains to be seen.
Could have been a hasty decision on my part but I always wanted one with 'fatso' playing the lyre ...... we shall see.

Nice coin, but I don't think it will clean up much more.

I think you well be able to get some more detail out of the letters on the reverse yet but I don't think his face is going to get any prettier!

Probably can't improve much more than it is already. It is after all what it is. The original photo seemed to show more potential. Cleaning coins is always a chancy proposition. But over paying ....... Well we shall just chalk this one up as part of the learning curve

Well, give it a long oil bath and see what happens. I often find coins which turn out well from that.

Besides, its a really good type, cant fault it!

That is a nice coin. I agree with chrsmat, it will clean up a little, but I think it is lovely as it is.
