I recently picked up my first ever box from the bank, and was sort of surprised to see the cent box "inspection" date to be from 2004. Is receiving older boxes like this a norm, or will the vast majority of boxes be much closer to the 2013, 2014 range? Haven't opened the box yet, but was thinking the older the box, the better it could potentially be.
It was glued, with Dunbar rolls. Also thought maybe it was reused, but no idea how often that's done. I guess we'll see if I can any post-2004 when I search.
Mine that are stamped as inspected never had a date on them, and often had a few Canadians and wheats. Not seen any stamped on other denominations yet.
I'd expect a lot of BU 1999-2004 cents in that box and maybe a *slightly* higher percentage of copper. Wheats have been rare in circulation since the 70s, so I'd expect to find as many wheats in that box as a normal one, if not fewer. Most wheats escaped back into circulation from 2006-2009 when the recession led to dumps of old coin jars. I saw wheat pennies at my work every day back in 2009, which was the peak of the "great coin dump" from my understanding.
