hi everyone, it has been a while since I've studied Asian cash. This looks to be Japanese, but I'm not certain. Any help would be appreciated!

Appears to be a Kanei Tsu Ho coin (古寬永e寳) little tough to tell with this picture and the damage on the ei 永 character. Further attribution will be tough. But if post up a another pic I think I could help nail it down.

Does it stick to a magnet? Some of these Japanese cash are made of iron.

Thanks, you two! It actually isn't magnetic. So I assume that it is a 17th-century mon from Japan.

Yes, it's a beat up Kanei Tsuho, 1626-1859.
Hartill/JNDA/Jacobs-Vermule would be able to narrow down the date.
