I recently purchased on ebay what was described as an 1858 LL Flying Eagle. When I received the coin I noticed that it was actually an SL. It was however the coin that was pictured on the auction. I contacted the seller and he offered to send me a new LL and told me to keep the original. He sent a picture of the new coin and I accepted his more than fair offer. How do I respond to "How accurate was the item description?" Obviously it was not accurate but I do not want to ding the seller as I feel that he was fair in correcting his mistake. Quote: why does this topic frighten you? Because if you sell a lot on ebay, you live and die on your feedback #. Many people don't read the comments, they just look at the #. To think that you could make a small honest mistake. Then go so far as to send someone the right coin to fix the mistake as well as letting them keep the wrong coin for free and still have them think about giving you neutral or negative feedback or less than five stars ? That is a little scary. Kind of like having someone file a complaint with the BBB because you gave them the pound of ham that was meant for Mrs. Jones instead of the pound of turkey that was meant for you, even though the deli man let you keep both for the price of one.

Thank You denco7. Very well said! Quote:Because if you sell a lot on ebay, you live and die on your feedback #. On top of this we get people who judge us on the speed of the postal service and not on how long it takes us to get the item to the Post Office.

I can't believe you would even consider giving your Seller anything but 5 stars across the board. He made a mistake, corrected it and made you more than whole.
It's absolutely INSANE what some Buyers think nowadays!

I feel as if I need to clarify myself here. Perhaps I should have stated my original post differently. My intention was always to give this seller 5 stars because of his going above and beyond to correct his mistake.
I posted my question based on the "How accurate was the item description?" It was not accurate and if answered literally would have resulted in less than 5 stars. My intention was to ignore the accuracy issue and just give 5 stars. I was curious as to whether others would do the same or had reasons for giving this question less than 5 stars.
I fully appreciate what this seller has done to rectify his mistake and have conveyed that to him.
I will be more careful in my future postings to ensure that they are not confusing or misleading.

Even considering "something other than 5 stars because technically the first coin sent was not - as described" is a bit "out there". Why would you ever consider dinging a seller when they more than went above and beyond to make it right? And particularly when you compounded the mistake by not catching it in the ad's pics either - you said the coin matched the pics but was SL instead of LL. That is why it is a weird question that some/many consider scary or bizarro.
Most folks aren't "looking for an excuse" to ding a seller, IOW. Good that you asked before dinging him/her,but that you felt any "uncertainty" about possibly doing it at all does seem a bit odd.

OK all. I feel as if I have been taken to the wood shed. I once again assure you that I would not have given this seller negative feedback and am not lurking out there waiting for an excuse to give you or other sellers a bad name. I have always given sellers the benefit of the doubt and will continue to do so. I will also be careful about asking ill advised and poorly stated questions in the future.
