Hi again guys, I would like to ask a question regarding this coin, It the funny surface due to being cleaned and now is forming some sort of crusty corrosion. If so I wont purchase it. It looks very funny to me like flakey or crusty surface.
Any help would be great thank you.

Hi sweetap,
Some of it is grott, and a little bit of light surface verdigris, but underlying is some evidence of pitting and corrosion - that, for me, would be the most significant detractor to this coin. It's not too severe, but enough to make a difference. Not one I would go at unless the price was right, although the coin is not a total write-off. I wouldn't be paying VF pricing on it, though. Detail to VF with pitting, would be a fair description, IMHO. Value of VF? No, not in my book.
The coin also has a few rim marks that would detract a bit from overall value, but as I say, the pitting is the big issue for me, even if mild.

No worries sweetap,
A bit more on your actual question, if you're interested:
'Is the funny surface due to being cleaned and now is forming some sort of crusty corrosion'.
No, cleaning is not likely to be the actual cause of the crusty appearance, although it can be.
In basic terms:
Some of what you are seeing is grott, which is natural, and some of what you are seeing is mild verdigris (green, skummy mix).
The rest is the uneven surface created by oxidisation, (corrosion), where moisture and air have come in to contact with the metal over an extended period of time, causing it to react together and deteriorate, (verdigris is formed). Corrosion has caused the pit marks, which appear when the verdigris comes away for whatever reason, leaving a spot where the copper used to be.
It is likely that the verdigris that caused the initial pitting was cleaned away at some point in an effort to 'stop the rott' and preserve the coin from further deterioration, however the coin does not demonstrate evidence of recent cleaning. (thus the grott, and small amount of verdigris still showing, which appear to be fairly natural).
Clear as mud?
This'll make it worse:
When looking at images, you need to be a bit careful.
The 'grainy' effect can also appear as a result of poor resolution in images, (particularly scans), and may give the appearance of mild pitting.
This is not the case with the coin imaged above, which has quite well detailed images.
So, if you are looking at other coins and come to the same conclusion, consider whether the appearance may be because of resolution, because it can look similar at first glance.

OK this one has nice features but I do not have a clue why it looks like it does cleaned maybe and can those dark spots be removed. It sells in 2 hrs and is at 74 dollars.
I like its nice crisp features but the colour is all I don't no what.
Thank you in advance for any help.

I would not recommend this one, it is badly pitted from corrosion.

Definately harshly cleaned, looks also like heavy pitting (or stains, but probs pitting).
The last one was much better than this one mate.

Geeez this is hard work LOL, I'm so sorry I just don't have a clue , there are 8 1925 pennies to be sold to day and I'm so confused.
I don't think I will bother bidding. There are some nice chocolate ones going in a little while but have quite a bit of wear on the obverse side I think you guys call it (see I'm learning LOL) the kings head side. lots of flat areas I picked up on that buy what you guys say about the pearls.
I have one I like at ye old coins I go take a look this week if I can but at my age I don't get out to much any more guys. So I will have to wait, thank you for your help you all been very kind. Kind Regards sweetap.

You're welcome, mate. If you are looking for some 'self help' info that will assist with grading and valuation, my resource site has a visual grading guide, which you are welcome to use. It may help put things in to perspective a bit for you. It can be found here: http://www.tdkapdc.com.au/australia...g-index.htmlIt does all get easier, (and really quite interesting), once you have a reasonable foundation to work from. OH I must confess why I need these coins your all probably wondering why a yobbo who knows nothing wants old pennies, you would think I had heaps and I do have a few but not any worth while putting on these bars. I want to leave a 25 and 46 penny to each of my 4 children and 1 to my grand girl BESS HER HEART. That's 10 pennies all up. She is my only grand child as of this moment.
I am going to have them put onto a 1 kilo Perth silver bullion bar for each of them, I have the silver and now I need the coins and in the middle of the two coins will be a photo of me and mum. I will have to have a jeweller fit them but I don't care it costs what it costs. I would just like some fair dinkum real Aussie pennies not the worlds greatest pennies and not fakes. I would hate for them to find out it was a fake on there gift.
A bit silly I guess but you think different when you get old and I just hope there either precious to them or gets them out of a spot one day either would please me.
