When a dealer refuses to negotiate prices on coins they've had in inventory for over a year because they are priced so high.

There is one dealer near me who will not negotiate regardless of the coin or price.

Quote: The large binders are laid out on the table, and coins are in bargain boxes for me to look through; I just want to look without feeling pressure to buy something. This has always been my favorite thing at shows--looking at coins at my leisure, without any pressure. Quote: When a dealer refuses to negotiate prices on coins they've had in inventory for over a year because they are priced so high. Also, having to sort through hundreds of overpriced culls--very common in IHCs--before you find a collectable coin. I swear, some dealers must just recycle unwanted inventory from decades ago. However, my worst experience ever was getting accused, at a show, of stealing a coin.

For my collecting focus: Sellers who insist a 1780 Maria Theresa Thaler is original( only 30 confirmed examples known despite the fact that on ebay theres at least double that number described as original every month) when it is a restrike. Some will go so far as to clearly state that is not a restrike. For example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1780-AUST...em43c975fa40

I hate the way normal peoples eyes glaze over when I'm ranting about my latest purchase. LOL

OK. I have a peeve: CCF Members who chastise a topic as "having been posted before" WITHOUT giving the original link! Imagine a new member with less than a dozen posts. How is he or she to know this? I find it ... RUDE! Think before you complain.

1. Coins with crap them (pictures, holograms, etc) 2. Private mints. 3. Official government mints that often behave like private mints (I'm looking at you, Royal Mint).

My biggest pet peeve is collectors who complain about dealers in regards to how they conduct their business.

Terrible company to deal with. I happened to look around in their website, and they are selling circulated 1921 Morgans for $71.50. That's just sad.

1. Working with a dealer/seller who is not negotiate even after admitting that they have had the coins for nearly 10 years-
2. Dealers/sellers who refuse to sell their coins for the price they have written on the 2x2 (i.e., making sure to sell the coin based on updated coin values/silver/gold values despite previously setting the price on the coin)
3. Altered coins (with color, etc. added)

When "experts" tell someone that a coin is "only worth scrap" when it is much nicer than cull. Anything short of BU or ultra rare has no value to them.
