Couple of questions for you guys. I was going to send my HOF coins in to get graded along with some other recent purchases. I have never done this before and don't know the best way to do this. How should I ship them? I was thinking about going with pcgs and get the first strike label

What other coins are you sending? I would do the first strike on these just because so many are going to ship after the cutoff date. But the downfall is the hof coins have to be their own submission. You can still ship them together though. I personally ship mine express mail with the padded flat rate express envelops you can get free from usps.com. As long as it's not over 5k it can be insured and will be there the next day giving a shorter time frame where something could happen. You can get them in the flips rubber band them together and bubble wrap them, then stick them inside a small box in the padded envelope for extra protection too. The hof coins you can send in the ogp, I wouldn't mess with trying to remove them.

Side note update ngc is saying the gold coin wasn't an error. The person apparently did think it was an error but never bothered to pop the top and check. Not the smartest move of all time.

I've never submitted a coin to PCGS, but plan to if and when my gold coins arrive before the June 30th deadline. What is PCGS's turnaround time for grading? While I haven't used PCGS before I'm more into stamp collecting than coins and I've used their sister company PSE to grade stamps and their turnaround time averages 4-6 weeks which would mean I would finally have the coins I ordered on March 27th in early August.

It's similar. They're really busy right now so it's averaging 15-20 business days for regular submissions. Usually later in the summer things slow down some and things get done a week or two faster

I was going to send the 5oz smoky mountain pucks also. You don't have to take the coins out of the holders they were sent in correct?

June 30th is the cutoff date for the special Baseball HOF label. The First strike deadline is May 8th.

I ordered on March 27th. I got one of each type of coin except for the proof silver for which I ordered two. I was on the queue at 12:00:30. After getting in and completing my order it was 1:05. I've received my half dollars and was notified that my 3 silver dollars were shipped this past Friday (April 18th). My proof gold says it's scheduled for shipment on April 16th (haven't been notified that actually happened--I assume not) and my last coin, the unc gold says due for shipping on June 16th. I think the grading services labels, instead of first strike, would more accurately read something like "early recipient."

Hmmmm....my 209p and 222p silver orders are still "in stock and reserved"

..and they shipped on Sunday? Weird....

Maybe this week for me....

edited to add: I saw on another blog that the Mint shipped (created a label) a bunch of silver yesterday and quite a few were after my order time...guess they don't like me...
