The gold coins are sold out - many are saying the silver coins are showing sold out if you attempt to order them. If you look at the description for the gold coins it shows they have opened a waiting list - for pending cancellations. Waiting List Notice: The number of orders we have taken meets the maximum limit for the 2014 National Baseball Hall of Fame Proof $5 Gold Coin. You may still place an order for this product, which will go on a waiting list. If a product becomes available because of an order cancellation, we will fulfill orders from the waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot provide information about your position on the waiting list. When we place your order on the waiting list, we will send you an order receipt. This is not a guarantee that you will receive your order. If we are unable to fulfill part or all of your order, you will receive a cancellation or sold-out notification. If you paid by check, you will receive a refund.

This is my first gold purchase from the mint. I got all the coins I wanted ordered - and even went back and ordered the clad just a few minutes ago - to complete the set.
I expected the frenzy to some extent - just not as rapid as it came to pass - even with the ordering limits.

My first gold commem as well, I couldnt pass this one up which I'm sure is a shock to everyone.
I had a feeling the gold would sell out, I didnt think it would take less than 7 hours though.
Im not sure whether or not the "waiting room" improved anything or not, the sight was still very glitchy for me after my hour wait.
Needless to say though I'm very excited for these to come and excited about all the interest its getting.

Just to see how many orders have been placed today #42959xxx Order Process Date: 3/27/14 Merchandise : 277.60 Freight . . . : 4.95 Total . . : 282.55 1. 2014 Baseball HOF CLAD UNC (B36) Qty 2 @ $18.95 - Backordered 06/15/14. 2. 2014 Baseball HOF PROOF CLAD HALF-DOLLAR (B35) Qty 2 @ $19.95 - Backordered 06/15/14. 3. 2014 Baseball HOF UNC SILVER DOLLAR (B34) Qty 2 @ $47.95 - Backordered 06/15/14. 4. 2014 Baseball HOF PROOF SILVER DOLLAR (B33) Qty 2 @ $51.95 - Backordered 06/15/14. 5. UNITED STATES MINT REUSABLE BAG (NWTBAG1) Qty 1 @ $.00 - In stock. Just placed this @ 7:18 EDT, the first recorded order for the BB coins was 12:02 EDT with an order #42918xxx, so more than 41,000 orders in a 7-hour period. Both the gold coins took about 5+ (or is it 6?) hours to get to the wait list status. I wonder what the split is? 30K proof/20K unc.? Always thought 50,000 was too few when the gold max in each of the last three years commemorative programs was 100,000! The US Mint says they're not in the business of creating rarities but they certainly did today. Reminded me of the pre-web frenzy for the American Buffalo dollars in 2001.

I visited the Whitman Baltimore show today and stood on line for the US Mint booth for approximately 3 hours to purchase the Baseball HOF coins. The Mint brought a relatively small number of the coins to the show. Gold coin purchases were limited to two (either two of one version or one proof and one uncirculated). Silver dollar and half-dollar purchases were limited to five of each (i.e., five proof + five uncirculated of each). The line extended out of the exhibit hall into the lobby and up the stairs leading out of the Convention Center. By the time I got halfway through the line, it was announced that the gold coin supply in the Mint's booth was sold out. When I was about ten folks from the front of the line, it was announced that the supply of the uncirculated version of the silver dollar and both versions of the clad half-dollar was depleted. After three hours of waiting on line, I was only able to purchase the proof silver dollar. Fortunately, while waiting on line, I used my phone to go online and purchase the gold coins that I wanted via the Mint's web site. All in all, a bit frustrating but I believe I got the coins in which I was interested. (I'll keep my fingers crossed that they all get delivered!)

This is one of those times I may just pay the small premium and get one off ebay instead of order from the mint. I just want one unc silver dollar and the extra $10 to $20 is worth not having to wait until August to get one. I don't have the time or patience to deal with the mint website during these frenzies.

First time poster here.
I finally got 2 full sets ordered (plus some extras silvers for gifts). I'm planning on keeping one set and selling the other. I started with a 30 min estimate wait time that eventually grew to about 55 minutes total. The estimate was pretty accurate after about 5 minutes of waiting.
It was once I got into the store that things were really annoying. Part of this may have been on my end - I was at work using an old version of IE. I would click on one of the coins, and it would just keep taking me back to the front page. Or I would click on "add to cart" and it just wouldn't do it. Oh well, everything worked out eventually. Like some other posters, I'm now seeing a waiting list for the gold coins, but since I got my order placed at 1:44pm I'm sure I beat it. Hey, they ought to call the waiting list "third strikes".
The real question now is: how long do I keep the extra set before I sell?
