Got my order in somewhere around noon central. Wasn't too bad; just kept checking the browser tab with US Mint waiting room periodically. Once in, the site was generally responsive; some lag but not bad at all like the 5oz fiasco. Not perfect but not terrible.

Not to worry, they need to verify your subsequent orders, basebal, as not having gone over the household "limit." It was same scenario with the 25th ASE Annie sets order frenzy 2 1/2 years ago.

I hope that one goes. To be honest though given the time I placed them I'm not convinced either of my gold orders will be filled.

basebal...given the way the waiting room and then the ordering went.... I either have coins ordered or I don't. It appears that many found out that all you had to do was be logged on to the mints website and it transitioned them directly to the waiting room at 11:45. Those people indicated the site went relatively smooth. I got queued up when I tried to log on at 11:45 and it went downhill from there. I did finally get a confirmation email of my 1st order at 2:06 - so hopefully that order at least went through.

Anyone been able to talk to a rep at the mint to determine if their order is on the waitlist or actually going to be filled? I have received email confirmation but my understanding is that does not guarantee you actually will get the coin or if you are on the waitlist. . .

Southern - which coin are you looking at? If you ordered before 6pm Eastern yesterday - there is a good chance your fine. No one truly knows at this point what the status of the gold and silver coins is for sure, and according to others calling and asking isn't much help either - since the mint is still trying to determine the statuses...

Full disclosure: I did order of few of each BUT with the knowledge that that cancel box might be my friend

Both the orders show up in the order history now. The estimated ship dates are all over the calendar stretching to 6-11-14. So if you ordered the gold coins prior to 6:30 EDT yesterday, there is a good chance the coins will be reserved for you at some point.

Mint News Blog had this to say about the first day sales and preliminary sales figures:

** I am in the process of confirming the cut off time for the sales reporting. The total sales for the $5 gold coins are indicated as below the 50,000 maximum. It may be the case that the reporting cut off time is before the 6:30 PM ET waiting list notice. This post will be updated once I receive confirmation.
Proof Unc Total
$5 Gold Coins 26,798 14,999 41,797
Silver Dollars 108,164 48,511 156,675
Clad Half Dollars 43,376 29,978 73,354

I am not. If any commemorative theme had a shot at a quick sellout, I feel it was this one.

I was just able to order the gold proof. The website says they are on backorder and will ship 7/2.

I heard all of the gold coins were sold out and if you are placing an order today you are actually just being put on a wait list.

Teach...no one really knows yet. The sold numbers from yesterday show 41,000+ coins... and the limit is 50k... so it is possible they put the wait list up as a chocker to slow down orders?

I just returned from the Baltimore Whitman coin show where the US Mint was selling these yesterday and today.

The line to the US Mint sales booth was reported to be 3 hours yesterday ... and a respected member of this forum (whom I met at the show) reported that when they got to the sales booth all that remained on-site yesterday was the proof silver dollar ...

Report as well is that the $5 gold coin is sold out.

I have my order in for two uncirculated silver dollars.
