Looks cleaned EF-, I still think you got a fair deal regardless.
It's looks nice for the price paid.

You can compare it to the 1891 I am auctioning on this site to it, I think the consensus is it's XF+ and has not been cleaned.

I look at the white fields with crust remaining around the devices (remnants from a dip)...just my first reaction and from experience. However, after a longer look at the pics, I would say this is an AU+ piece...Little or no wear on the PUP/high points...I just can't explain the weakly struck legend (especially QUARTER)?

All this is just by the pics...The obverse looks like original skin...I think I would need to see it in hand (just send it to me, you wouldn't want cleaned coin anyway). It's kind of like a slider dipped/not dipped.

I have got to say I think it has got some of the ugliest toning on it I have ever seen but all that aside and if I were looking for a coin for my dansco I would think this to be an AU coin, the reverse is DOG ugly but still as far as detail goes I believe it still falls under the AU category. See I wouldn't care about the ugly toning if it were mine because about as long as it took me to take it out of the flip it would have slipped into some liquid stuff and been looking better in no time

I certainly feel this coin has AU-50 details, at least as far as the photos show. I don't see wear on the obverse high points (though the angle of the photos is not the best.) The leading edges of the wings, the breast, the motto, and the talons on the reverse all look to be AU. The seller was dreaming with the BU suggestion.

I do suspect cleaning at some point in the past. It's hard to tell if the "toning" is more the result of the lighting for the photos or if that is the actual appearance of the coin.

All-in-all, probably a fair price for the coin.

Well, I decided to keep the coin. The more I looked at it, the more it grew on me. Figured the price was fair, so I'm happy.
